Constitution

ARTICLE I.

Name and Colors:
The name of the organization will be the Northwest Cycling Club, Inc. The club colors shall be yellow, purple and black.

ARTICLE II.

Purpose:
Purpose of the organization is to provide opportunities, promotion and education of recreational and competitive cycling by:

  • Promotion of honest and fair cycling;
  • Education of cyclists in the different areas of the sport;
  • Encouragement / support recreational cycling activities;
  • Encouragement / support competitive cycling activities;
  • Promotion and practice of safe cycling techniques;
  • Encouragement / support of public facilities and programs, including bike paths, bike trails,educational courses and the Alkek Velodrome.

ARTICLE III.

Membership:
Section 1. Membership is open to individuals and families who desire to promote the various purposes of the Northwest Cycling Club.

Section 2. Types of memberships available

  • Individual
  • Family

Section 3. Parent or Guardian's signature necessary for approval of membership for those under age 18.

Section 4. Waiver of club liability shall be signed by all members.

ARTICLE IV.

Dues:
Section I . Dues are payable annually from March I of the current year through March I of the following year. Dues for new members joining between this time frame shall be pro-rated on a month-to-month basis.

Section 2. Amount of annual dues:

  • Individual - S20.00
  • Family - S30.00

Section 3. Membership will be deactivated if renewal is over 30 days past due.

ARTICLE V.

Meetings:
Section 1. The annual meeting and election of officers shall be held at the regularly scheduled meeting during the month of November.

Section 2. Regular and special meetings are provided for in the by-laws.

ARTICLE Vl.

Officers:
The election of officers shall be held as in the by-laws.

ARTICLE VII.

Executive Committee (Board)
The Executive Committee shall be composed of the elected officers of the club, the appointed committee chairpersons, immediate past president, and the club sponsor. The executive board shall have immediate charge, management, and control of the club between meetings.

ARTICLE VIII.

Committees
Committees are provided for in the by-laws.

ARTICLE IX.

Amendment
The constitution may be amended in any respect at any regular meeting of the club by an affirmative vote of 2 /3 of the members present. No proposed amendment shall be acted upon at any club meeting unless it has been presented in the Newsletter prior to the meeting or in a separate communication to the membership.

ARTICLE X.

Affiliations:
The Northwest Cycling club is an official affiliate of:

  • The League of American Bicyclists (LAB)
  • The United States Cycling Federation (USCF)
  • The National Off Road Bicycle Association (NORBA)
